Kura Sushi, a Japanese restaurant chain, has announced it will open its second metro Detroit location in Novi at noon on July 16.

Novi will be the 38th Kura Revolving Sushi Bar location in the U.S. and second location in the state of Michigan. The restaurant offers savory, authentic Japanese dishes made with high-quality, natural ingredients free of artificial sweeteners, seasonings, preservatives, and colorings.

Since the opening of its first restaurant in Japan in 1977, the operating systems have been passed down and improved upon while the Kura Corp. has grown substantially with another 500 locations across Japan, Taiwan, and the U.S.

As pioneers of the revolving sushi concept, the Kura family of companies have improved upon the idea and incorporated advanced technology, premium ingredients, and affordable prices to enhance the unique revolving sushi dining experience.

The Kura experience features the two layered conveyor belt system, a bikkura pon prize system, robots, and Kura Sushi rewards.

The two-layer conveyor belt circulates throughout the entire restaurant with various sushi plate offerings. There are tablets located at each table to choose from their more than 140-item menu, which will send a notification to the kitchen where they will make and send your plate down the top layer express belt directly to your table.

The bikkura pon prize system consists of a short anime that plays on the tablet after every five sushi plates that are dispensed into the plate slot, and prizes are received after every 15 sushi plates that are dispensed in the plate slot.

Exclusively at Kura Revolving Sushi Bar restaurants in the U.S., the first Demon Slayer x Kura Sushi prize collaboration includes rubber keychains, lanyards, and badges that feature Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba main characters Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, among others.

The Kura experience also has robots with Kur-B the KuraBot that delivers drink orders tableside through tablet notifications to the waitstaff and reward programs that allow guests to earn a $5 reward for every $50 spent.

Kura Sushi also features a mobile app that enables customers to view live wait times and join the waitlist remotely. Guests also can access rewards through the app and place an online order for pickup or delivery.

The first 50 dine-in guests to Novi’s location on July 16 will receive a Demon Slayer x Kura Sushi graphic tee. The eatery is located at 26425 Novi Road, Suite C. The other location in the region is in Troy, at 736 W. Big Beaver Rd.
